Most people choose to fly to Lukla to start the Everest Base Camp Trek. For some trekkers and mountaineers, even the experience of landing at Lukla airport is in itself a nerve-wracking challenge. It is advisable to take the trek from Jiri if you have time, as it will enable your body to acclimatize gradually. This classic route takes approximately 3 weeks and moves from the predominantly Hindu lowlands to the Tibetan Buddhist High Himalaya.
